For one week during the school year, our Lower School library transforms into a bustling bookstore with excited students, parents, and friends browsing through hundreds of books available for sale.
Volunteering at the fair is fun and easy and gives you an opportunity to help your child and his/her classmates develop a passion for books and reading. Every year, over 25 parents and staff donate a few hours of their time by working as cashiers, helping students browse and select books, and setting up and breaking down shelves and tables of books. Time slots are available throughout the week in small shifts before, during, and after school. Children of volunteers working the after-school shift may attend Bookends for free.
All purchases made at the Book Fair bring in Scholastic Dollars that AVS can then use to purchase books and other school supplies. Additionally, faculty and staff prepare book wish lists for their classrooms and libraries, which parents and friends of the AVS community can consult to make additional purchases for immediate gifting to our school.
